The Transition Durham Book Group meets approximately monthly. This is not an academic study group, the aim is to offer people the opportunity of mutual support in their thoughts and feelings about climate change, peak oil and transition towns.
Each meeting chooses a book or film to consider for the next meeting to discuss. Meetings last an hour or two and are informal, often in a pub, or separate room in a pub. We often have about half a dozen people.
Please feel free to attend whether or not you have read the current book, the idea is to meet other people and swap ideas and thoughts.
Some materials we have considered over the last year or so include:
The Burning Question by Mike Berners-Lee and Duncan Clark
Ancient Futures: Learning from Ladakh by Helena Norberg Hodge
Farm for the Future – TV documentary
Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution by Peter Kropotkin
The Dream of the Earth by Thomas Berry
5th IPCC assessment report – Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
